As one of the 150 million consumers of dietary supplements, I am writing to ask you to support and/or cosponsor the Dietary Supplement and Healthy Meal Replacement Tax Parity Act of 2007, HR 1107.

Conventional medial treatment drugs, surgical procedures, and the like have been able to be claimed as a recognized deductible medical expense. This bill recognizes that meal replacement and dietary supplement products have been shown through research and historical use to be of valuable benefit to human health and disease prevention. However, these costs cannot be claimed as an authorized medical expense under the existing federal tax code. This bill would permit these expenses to be tax-deductible medical care costs. This tax deductibility option is long overdue for millions of Americans.
