A proposed new law now threading its slimy
way through Congress could shelve dietary supplements
permanently. It is called the "Dietary Supplement Safety Act
of 2003" (S. 722), introduced by Senator Richard Durbin,
D-Ill. If passed, it would take from us the freedoms that we
American consumers of dietary supplements hold dear.
This is serious stuff -- you could lose access to all -- let
me repeat -- ALL -- nutrients, supplements, herbs, etc. -- if
this Trojan Horse legislation is passed. Even one "adverse
report" would give the FDA the power to pull any supplement or
category of supplements off the market.
If we sit back and do nothing we could forfeit our health
freedoms and countless people will die. Write and call your
government representatives and demand that this not be allowed
to happen. And to add further clout to your efforts, become a
member of the National Health Federation (NHF), the oldest and
largest health freedom organization in the world.
The NHF is committed to exposing the drastic attacks on our
health freedom until victory is won and freedom is assured,
fighting daily for your rights to select your own health care,
and to take those vitamins, minerals and herbs in the dosage
you judge best for your body...without government
interference.
Since 1952 the NHF has fought for individuals' rights to
consume food free of pesticides, hormones, antibiotics,
irradiation, and genetic engineering; worked to ensure your
access to vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes without
government restrictions; opposed all attempts to control the
natural health industry; and demanded the right to choose
alternative forms of medicine and have alternative medical
choices covered by medical insurance. The NHF stands for
freedom of choice for the consumer and freedom of practice for

Freedom is all of our responsibility, and the price remains

Senate Bill 722, the Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2003
(Durbin, D-Ill) and I ask you to oppose this extreme and
unnecessary legislation. The government must not be allowed to
limit the freedom of choice of American consumers when it
