TO LEGISLATORS: PLEASE OBTAIN ANSWERS TO MY FLUORIDATION CONCERNS
Dear ________________________________ We are assured by proponents that fluoridation is safe. Yet there are major discrepancies and vital omissions in their reports that need to be addressed. My concerns include excessive fluoride exposure and its adverse effects on bones and teeth. Therefore, I am turning to you to obtain answers to two key questions cited below because our legislators are in a better position to obtain direct, specific answers. For years I and many others have been posing similar questions to officials which have never been satisfactorily answered. Please obtain answers to the following two important questions: (1) How much fluoride are we ingesting each day – in terms of milligrams? I am anxious to know how much fluoride I and my family and community members are ingesting or exposed to. Can you provide me with a copy of a recent study, or the exact reference, on total fluoride intake for both children and adults who live in fluoridated areas and non-fluoridated areas? (2) According to the National Academy of Sciences/National Research Council/Institute of Medicine (NAS/NRC/IOM), the symptoms of fluoride poisoning develop over time, generally starting with vague aches, pains, and stiffness in the muscles and joints. Can you provide me with a copy of a fluoridation safety study, or the exact reference, that used a method capable of detecting these fluoride-induced arthritic symptoms?
Please ask them not to send the name of a review or materials prepared by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) or other agency. I am aware of the pro-fluoridation documents published by the CDC, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (USDHHS), World Health Organization (WHO), and others. For each of these two questions, I ask either for a copy of the original research paper, or the name of an article published in the peer-reviewed scientific literature so that I can order a copy of the original research paper through my local library. I ask that the answers include the journal title, volume #, page #, and date.
Unfortunately, this particular information doesn’t seem to be readily available from the American Dental Association (ADA), CDC, the Web, or any other source.
Sincerely,
