Congressman Dan Burton (R-IN), who is the
Chairman of the Subcommittee on Human Rights and Wellness, for
the Government Reform Committee, and a sponsor of H.R. 2085,
the Access To Medical Treatment Act (AMTA), has sent a letter
to Congressman Michael Bilirakis (R-FL), the Chairman of the
Health Subcommittee of the Energy and Commerce Committee,
requesting a Subcommittee mark-up hearing for this
legislation.
This is good news for supporters of the AMTA legislation.
Grassroots action is needed to help build Subcommittee and
full Energy and Commerce Committee member support for the
Burton request. To this end, the following list of targeted
members is provided.
The list contains those members on the Health Subcommittee or
the full Energy and Commerce Committee who currently or
previously have supported/cosponsored AMTA legislation, except
for Congressmen Bilirakis and Sherrod Brown (D-OH), who is the
Ranking Democratic member on the Health Subcommittee.
People are strongly encouraged to contact all of these
Congresspersons to register their support for the Burton
request to Health Subcommittee Chairman Bilirakis for a
Subcommittee mark-up on this legislation at the earliest
convenient time, and to have individual Representatives
contact Congressmen Bilirakis and Sherrod Brown personally to
state their support for the Burton request.
