At 3:00 AM there was a recorded vote on
suspending the rules and passing S. 3546. The vote was 203
For and 98 Against suspending the rules and passing the
bill. 132 Not voting. Sadly, the bill was passed. This was
the next to the last legislative item done before the
House adjourned, which they have now done.
The National Health Federation thanks
all our members and others for the action taken to stop
the passage of this legislation. In spite of an excessive
number of contacts from consumers to their Congressional
representatives, our efforts failed this time around.
Please know that the Federation will continue to persevere
on the legislative front as 2007 will also bring us quite
a challenge.
