Cancer’s Wake-Up Call

“Each person carries his own doctor inside him. They come to us not knowing that truth.  We are at our best when we give the doctor who resides in each patient a chance to go to work“ -- Dr. Albert Schweitzer

Cancer is seen as a mystery!  And yet the root of this dreaded illness has long been established: it is a metabolic malfunction whose cause is directly associated with the food we eat and the way we live.  Unfortunately, traditional medical practice focuses on killing cancer cells while greatly harming the patient’s overall health.  Theirs is a system that tries to shrink the tumor but does not address the cause of cancer-cell production.  Such an approach only buys time, while more and more people get cancer each passing year and at ever younger ages.

At the first indication of cancer it is very important to begin drinking lots of deep green leafy vegetable juice (from collard greens, turnip greens, kale greens, cabbage) and drink it often -- 3 or 4 ounces 5 to 6 times a day.  In addition, one should stop eating white sugar, honey, white flour, processed foods, and other simple carbohydrates (like white rice and spaghetti), since they are the preferred foods of cancer cells.

To get at its root cause, cancer calls on us to stop eating meat and most pasteurized dairy.  Once this disease has begun, then beef, pork, chicken, turkey, etc. all add fuel to the fire, thus making an increasingly friendly atmosphere for this illness to progress.  These foods do two things: they make the body chemistry more acidic, and they use up its scarce supply of protein-digesting enzymes that are desperately needed for helping destroy cancer cells.  On the other hand, it is important to eat raw fruits, vegetables, and complex carbohydrates like lima beans, black-eyed peas, black beans, squash, avocados, sweet potatoes, yams, and lentil.  These are rich in a little-known but important food factor called nitriloside.  Also, get regular physical exercise (even if only walking), adequate water, sunlight, deep breathing, and do prayer and meditation.

Why are these things crucial?  It is because to overcome cancer the body chemistry needs to be made less acidic, more alkaline, and more oxygen-rich and enzyme-rich at the earliest possible date.  This illness can only thrive where body chemistry is highly acidic, and where there is a deficiency of oxygen among the cells.  And there is no better way to begin correcting this than with highly alkaline, fresh, deep-green leafy vegetable juice, and also by consuming lots of raw fruits and vegetables.  We must especially deny cancer cells their main source of energy, that is, simple carbohydrates like white sugar, white flour, and other refined grains.  In addition, it is vital to get more oxygen circulating at the cellular level, because healthy cells are enhanced by oxygen, and cancer cells are actually suppressed by it.  Since green foods contain chlorophyll, they bolster the oxygen-carrying capacity of our red blood cells.

Research done by the Scottish scientist, Dr. John Beard, proves that cancer can thrive when there is a scarcity of protein-digesting enzymes.  But we can remedy this because raw fruits and vegetables introduce digestive enzymes into the body while also normalizing the body’s acid/alkaline balance.  In that respect, fresh papayas and pineapples eaten daily (as well as papaya seeds) are uniquely helpful in introducing important digestive enzymes.  The various things mentioned here can strengthen the immune system, which is key for preventing and overcoming cancer.

Changing the way we nourish the body is sometimes very difficult, because we are conditioned to eating mainly animal protein, dairy, refined grains, and cooked foods.  But make no mistake about it, changing what we eat is crucial for creating a biological terrain within the body that awakens healing power and suppresses the disease.  Scurvy is one of several metabolic diseases that killed thousands until it was discovered that certain food factors were the answer.  Cancer is also a metabolic illness, and it too is directly influenced by what we eat.

Think of this illness as a signal that the body’s metabolism (or normal cellular health) is out of whack.  It affects the whole body, and it can be cured, especially if steps are taken to avoid further poisoning the body.  Meeting that challenge involves changing what we eat and how we live our lives -- we must live closer to nature.  Finally, let us focus not so much on the “type of cancer” or on the size of the tumor symptom.  What is far more important is the resolve and determination to nourish the body so that it unleashes its own healing power -- giving the "doctor who resides inside" a chance to go to work.

Dr. Otto Warburg, a German scientist, won a Nobel Price in 1931. He discovered that when there is a deficiency of oxygen among the cells, and when the body’s chemistry is too acidic that’s when healthy cells are at greatest risk of turning cancerous.  But, fortunately, through diet and lifestyle changes we each can introduce more oxygen into our body, and we can make its chemistry less acidic and more enzyme-rich.

“[N]o chronic metabolic disease in the history of medicine has ever been prevented or cured, except by factors normal to diet or normal to the animal economy.” --- Ernst Krebs, Jr., Cancer Researcher and Discoverer of Vitamin B-17
