Codex Update
Please find posted
below, reports on the Codex Alimentarius meeting in Bonn,
Germany from NHF head delegate, Scott Tips and NHF delegation
member, Paul Taylor, both of whom were in attendance.
The objective of this meeting was to deliberate and attempt to
obtain a consensus for worldwide restrictive uniform
"guidelines" (read "rules") covering standards for vitamin and
mineral supplements. What Codex dictates will be applied
worldwide. The World Trade Organization enforces any standards
and guidelines issued by Codex, overriding domestic national
laws. The leverage used by the WTO to enforce these changes are
by hefty trade sanctions. The impact of these meetings will
greatly affect the future availability of options for the
individual taking vitamins and supplements worldwide.
