MMR MAY HARM YOUR CHILD
Is The Government Hiding Vaccine Damage
This month sees the twentieth anniversary of the introduction of the controversial MMR vaccine in October 1988. Whilst the government continues to bolster the safety of the live measles, mumps & rubella vaccine, a group of parents of children with regressive autism have released a leaflet to coincide with this anniversary, drawing attention to the many unanswered questions surrounding the vaccine.
The safety of the MMR is one of the biggest medical controversies of the last twenty years.
Despite claims for its safety:
* MMR was road-tested on children for a maximum of 6 weeks; its long term dangers were never properly addressed
* Early MMR brands were withdrawn in Japan in 1993 because of aseptic meningitis caused by the Urabe Mumps strain. There have been successful legal claims for damages against the Japanese health providers
* MMR is associated with the onset of symptoms of regressive autism and bowel disease in a small minority of young children within weeks of receiving the jab. No research has ever addressed why the majority of cases of regressive autism begin in the second year after the first MMR jab and what causes this pattern of onset
* Without scientific findings explaining what causes regressive autism and bowel disease, many parents in the UK continue to shun the risks that the MMR is seen to pose, despite government assurances that the risks are low or non-existent
* The UK government tactically removed the licences for single measles, mumps and rubella vaccines from the NHS in 1999, cynically denying parents and children a choice between MMR and single jabs
* The US government has recently conceded that vaccination damage caused autism in a few cases, before a 5000-strong group litigation brought by parents against the government is concluded. The outcome for the rest of these chidlren is eagerly awaited
Because of the government's MMR campaign, scientific study of autistic children is miniscule, resulting in:
* neglect – insufficient research into autism – £1 million a year – for the fastest growing UK childhood disorder
* neglect – many UK children are left in pain with little or no medical treatment for bowel disease – despite the fact that the government’s own health polices for autistic children promise to increase provision of paediatric bowel specialists between 2004 & 2014
* neglect – no government monitoring of the prevalence of autism in the community – in a deliberate attempt to evade responsibility for adequate levels of provision in health, education and social care
* neglect – the best interests and welfare of these children is seriously neglected. For the government, Every Child Matters, but not autistic children
CRYSHAME is an organisation of parents demanding justice for the three doctors being tried for fitness to practice by the GMC, and for the many children with a form of regressive autism, for whom there is insufficient research into why they regressed and suffered bowel damage.
