According to recent statistics, approximately 83% of the adult population in America consumes coffee on a daily basis, and 31% of avid coffee drinkers make this beverage the most essential part of their morning. Besides having a unique and refreshing taste, studies have lent evidence to the fact that regular coffee consumption  has a great number of positive effects on physical health, which include lowering the risks of diabetes, heart diseases,and even liver cancer. 

What are the Health Benefits of Eating Coffee Beans?

Coffee is one of the foods that contains the highest number of antioxidants, or more precisely, a group of antioxidants known as flavonoids. According to numerous findings, flavonoids play an important role in protecting the human organism from various ailments, such as inflamations, heart disease, and even tumors. A regular consumption of coffee can also help prevent the onset of Parkinson’s disease, and lower the risk of type 2 Diabetes, Alzheimer's, and depression. Other antioxidant compounds that play a protective role include caffeic acid, caffeine, chlorogenic acids, and eugenol among a few others.

What Are the Dangers of Munching on Coffee beans?

A brewed cup of coffee, diluted in water and milk contains approximately 95 mg to 150 mg of caffeine. This means that you can drink up to 3 to 4 decent-sized cups of coffee a day without stepping over the suggested 400 mg per day. However, roasted coffee beans are highly concentrated and contain a greater amount of caffeine than their diluted form. Furthermore, according to calculations, experts on this subject were able to determine that approximately 28 coffee beans equals 336 mg of caffeine.

This means that if you like to munch on coffee beans, make sure not to step over the threshold to avoid side effects such as laxative effects, high cholesterol, heartburn, and more severe symptoms like kidney problems and ulcers.

What is the Best Type of Coffee Bean to Eat?

There are numerous types of good-quality coffee beans that come from all parts of the world, such as Brazil, Colombia, and Ethiopia. Thus, feel free to experiment and opt for the one you enjoy the most. However do keep in mind that lighter roasts contain more caffeine than dark roasts.

Eating coffee beans is a healthy habit, as long as one does it in moderation. Knowing the limits of healthy coffee consumption is important in order to avoid serious health complications. So, feel free to munch on these exotic beans, but don’t forget to stop when you should.
